Adena’s Dr. Ashton Fields Brings a Holistic Approach to Patient Care
Ashton Fields, DO, applies a slightly different perspective to her treatment of patients. As one of the few doctors of osteopathy (DO) in the area, Dr. Fields has been trained to treat the “whole person” and combine physical treatments to support self-healing and regulation, along with medication treatments to provide the best combined approach to help patients feel better.
“As an osteopathic physician, I look at finding the root cause of issues, and look at ways to prevent future issues and improve patients’ health,” says Dr. Fields. Osteopathic medicine differs from allopathic, a more conventional medicine approach, in that osteopathic physicians can use manual manipulation through hands-on therapy of joints, fascia, muscles and tendons to facilitate healing and diagnose underlying illness.
“Dr. Fields is pleasant, great with our staff, and her patients love her,” says Melody Waters, Clinic Manager, Adena Family Medicine Chillicothe. Dr. Fields sees patients young and old. She particularly loves seeing the newborns and babies, being a new mom with her own one-year-old at home. “I really enjoy seeing patients of all ages and full families, from babies to grandparents,” says Dr. Fields. “It truly is a community here and I am excited to help patients improve their health.”
Dr. Fields is originally from Western Kentucky and moved to the Chillicothe area where she began her Adena residency over five years ago. She’s now been an attending physician with Adena as a DO for two years and she and her husband love the area. In her limited spare time, Dr. Fields enjoys running, spending time at home with the family and their dogs, and taking her daughter to the local farmer’s market on the weekend. She is currently accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Fields, call (740) 779-4060.
