Athletes of the Year
Adena Health System Sports Medicine is proud to announce its 2018-2019 male and female Athlete of the Year scholarship recipients. This year’s winners were Kieran Place of Zane Trace High School and Molly Smith of Wellston High School.
As Adena’s Male Athlete of the Year, Kieran Place completed his high school athletic and academic career with numerous stellar achievements. Place led the Scioto Valley Conference in sacks this past season for the Pioneer football team and was a leader on and off the field. In the classroom, he carried a 3.9 GPA. His future plans include seeking admission into the United States Service Academy.
Adena’s Female Athlete of the Year Molly Smith finished her high school athletic and academic career with an impressive list of accomplishments. She earned five varsity letters competing in volleyball and softball. Over the past two years, Smith received Academic All-Conference honors in both sports as well. Smith graduated with a 3.99 GPA and proved to be a positive role model on the field, court and in the classroom.
As Adena’s Athletes of the Year, Place and Smith will each receive a $3,000 scholarship. In addition, a donation of $500 will be made in their names to each of their respective school’s athletic departments. The Adena Sports Medicine Athlete of the Year Scholarship is funded by the Adena Health Foundation.
