Inpatient Hemodialysis

This treatment uses a machine to slowly pump blood from the body into a filter called a dialyzer. Here, waste products and extra fluid are removed, and the filtered blood is pumped back into the body.

Peritoneal Dialysis

This treatment involves using a catheter to send a sterile solution called dialysate into the abdomen. The solution stays there for a period of time, which allows the waste, chemicals and extra fluid in your blood to pass into the solution. The dialysate and the waste products from your blood drain into a sterile collection bag to be disposed of at the end of the treatment.
